Radius was formed in January 1987 by Geoff Serle and has played various venues in London since that time. The band was recently featured on BBC's "Jazz Today" programmed, where they performed three pieces of music. They aim to incorporate a pastoral feel to their music whilst still keeping a sense of rhythm and groove.
Geoff Serle - Geoff was a founder and member of Research, and has released two albums with them "Laws Of Motion" and "Social System". He played in other bands alongside well known musicians on the London Music scene. He is interested in combing the open-minded and adventurous musical spirit of the late 60's with today's new technology.
David Cross - Best known as a member of King Crimson, David has recorded and broadcast with a number of European groups. He composed a great deal of music for the theatre and has a unique and innovative violin style.
Steve Topping - He has played with Esquire, a band who released an album on Geffen Records last year, and has played with Allan Holdsworth on many occasions. With bass player John McCullough he played in Drowning Not Waving in the late 70's, and has spent a lot of time doing sessions and playing in theatre productions.
Sheila Maloney - Sheila's professional work ranges from the contemporary music group Vocern to the powerdance pop band One On One. She performs regularly at the South Bank with her own group and composes for the Afro Caribbean Dance Co. 7 with whom she has performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and many venues in and out of the capital. Sheila's keyboard style reflects both a sophisticated technique and insight into today's technology, gained partly as a pioneer graduate of the City University BSC course in music.
John McCullough - John played in Swift in the 70's, a jazz-rock outfit that played all over the U.K. and in Europe, and supported some big names such as The Mahavishnu Orchestra. He has been a member of Research since 1983. and played on their "Social System" album of 1987, on Dossier Records.
